USA, CT: Stony Creek Brewery announces closure a month after acquisition
A simple message now greets visitors to the Stony Creek Brewerys website: Stony Creek Brewery is Permanently Closed, wtnh.com reported on August 7.
The popular brewery offered no explanation. On social media, a post from August 6 included the same message, with no caption.
Last month, New England Brewing Co. announced it acquired the Branford facility.
They said the Branford spot would be their new brewery location, and their old location in Woodbridge would house primary brewing operations and main headquarters for staff.
This expansion is a long time coming and a significant milestone for us, Rob Leonard, owner of NEBCO, said at the time. The timing aligns perfectly for us to expand our reach in the craft beer community.
Ed Crowley along with his son, Ed Jr. and his wife Peggy launched the Stony Creek brand in 2010 and opened the brewery in Branford in 2015. The sale included the brewery space, but not the Stony Creek brand.
