Spain: Lower barley crop expected this year in Spain

AVANCES April estimate has revised the Spanish barley acreage: 6-row to 254 thousand ha (last year 265 thousand), 2-row to 2.3 mln ha (last year 2.27), H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier this month.

On the basis of the MARS yield estimates the Spanish barley production may amount to 7.76 mln tonnes vs. 8.97 mln tonnes a year ago. Drought conditions may affect yields, the above forecasts are provisional.
