Brewing news USA: Explosion at La Crosse Brewery makes one injured

Fire officials are trying to find out what triggered an explosion that injured a worker at the City Brewery in La Crosse, local news agencies have communicated on May 10.

The man suffered second- and third-degree burns and is hospitalized in the Madison area.

La Crosse fire Captain Jim McGettigan says the worker was hurt when a section of the brewery's wastewater treatment operation exploded Tuesday night, May 09.

The man was on a ladder checking pumps in the building, which houses a large sludge pit. McGettigan says gases inside the area exploded.

Fire officials are still uncertain why the sludge pit filled up with gas and what kind of damage the explosion may have caused.
