Brewing news USA, TX: Elder Son Brewing Co.'s two locations in Houston set to close this summer

Elder Son Brewing Co.'s two locations in Houston are set to close this summer, Houston Chronicle reported on June 25.

Elder Son Brewing Co. is a small Houston-founded brewery specializing in dark beer and local wine and cider, according to the Elder Son Brewing Co. website.

The Heights location has been open since 2021 and will be closing on July 5. The North Houston location opened in July 2024 and will be closing its doors on June 27, according to the company's Instagram page.

"It was a very hard decision. It’s paralyzing to overthink the wrong turns or decisions we’ve made, but it’s amazing to think about the friends we’ve made, the people we’ve had the pleasure to work with, and the memories that’ll I’ll truly never forget," Elder Son Brewing Co. Founder Robert Frye wrote in an Instagram post. "Thank you for drinking our beer."

Frye began homebrewing about 16 years ago and was inspired by friends and family to open his own brewery when COVID-19 hit.
