Barley news Australia: Barley crop 2023 forecast unchanged at 10.88 mln tonnes

RMI Analytics left their forecast for Australia’s barley crops 2022 and 2023 unchanged in their latest report: at 14.22 and 10.88 mln tonnes, respectively.

Crop 2023 planted area may benefit slightly if China reopens for barley shipments, but strong competition from wheat and canola is expected to remain, the analysts said.

The ending stocks are expected to drop slightly on the back of strong exports.

Farmers have stopped selling barley awaiting official news on trade with China. Prices are up as Australia barley shipments to China are expected to resume sometime this year.
