Brewing news Singapore: ThaiBev reports 3.2% drop in first-half earnings

Thai Beverage (ThaiBev) has reported earnings of 14.71 billion baht ($580 million) for 1HFY2025 ended March 31, 2025, down 3.2% y-o-y, The Business Times reported on May 9.

For 2QFY2025, the group’s earnings came in 3.2% y-o-y lower at 6.74 billion baht.

The company reported a net profit of 17.77 billion baht for the 1HFY2025, down 9.2% y-o-y, and a 11.8% y-o-y lower net profit for 2QFY2025 of 8.1 billion baht.

This is due to a fall in net profit from lower sale revenue and higher raw material costs in its spirits business. Its non-alcoholic beverage (NAB) business recorded a decline in net profit due to lower share of profit from associates and joint ventures, and the food business experienced a decline due to increased operating expenses from restaurant expansion.

Meanwhile, ThaiBev’s beer business saw strong sales revenue and favourable raw material costs, resulting in a net profit.

For 1HFY2025, ThaiBev reported a 1% y-o-y higher revenue of 177.62 billion baht, but revenue for the 2QFY2025 declined slightly by 0.6% y-o-y to 85.4 billion baht.

For the 2QFY2025, the group’s lower revenue was due to a decrease in sale of beer business or 2.4%, NAB business of 1.9%, food business of 0.9% and others of 2.4% which was partially offset by increase in sale from spirits business of 2.1%.

The company’s interim dividend per share for 1HFY2025 came with no change at 0.15 baht.

As at end March, ThaiBev’s cash and cash at financial institutions came in at 51.3 billion baht.

Its current assets as at end March came in at 144.75 billion baht. The group saw a decrease in cash and cash at financial institutions, but an increase in property, plant and equipment, goodwill, and investments in associates and joint ventures.
