Brewing news Russia: Retail beer sales down by 16.3% in H1 2025

Russia’s retail beer sales fell by 16.3% in the first half of 2025, RBC reported on October 6.

January-June beer volumes are reportedly down to 29.11 mln hl and the decrease is explained by a change in the accounting structure and increase in prices, Russian media said.

Nielsen data shows the market growth rate slowed down this year – in January-July 2025 the beer market volume was up 2.3% whereas the same period last year saw an increase of 6.9%.

According to ROMIR, almost 70 percent of adult Russians buy beer. The research holding conducted a survey among Russians aged 18 and over from July 2024 to June 2025. 68.4 percent of the respondents bought beer at least once a year. 72 percent of them buy a drink once a month or more often. On average, beer was purchased more than 50 times a year.
