World: Barley trade, production forecasts almost unchanged this month

Global barley trade forecast for 2024/25 is flat in USDA’s April report, at 27.111 mln tonnes vs. 27.114 mln tonnes in the March forecast. For 2023/24, the trade is forecast at 31.947 mln tonnes.

Barley crop forecast is slightly down this month, at 143.442 mln tonnes vs. 143.612 mln tonnes in the March report and 143.536 mln tonnes in 2023/24.

Total barley consumption is seen at 146.447 mln tonnes (147.079 mln tonnes in last month’s report, 143.131 mln tonnes in 2023/24) and ending stocks at 18.225 mln tonnes (17.871 and 21.23 mln tonnes, respectively).
