Brewing news Hungary: Beer sales increase in 2022 but still fall short of 2019

Beer sales in Hungary increased last year compared to 2021 but still fell short of 2019. Domestic production in 2022 was close to the 2021 level, business daily világgazdaság.hu reported on February 7.

Continuing the trend of previous years, the proportions of the premium and super-premium categories and non-alcoholic beers continued to rise, said Sándor Kántor, director of the Association of Hungarian Brewers.

The combined sales of the five most prominent beer producers present in Hungary (Borsodi Sörgyár Kft., Carlsberg Hungary Kft., Dreher Sörgyárak Zrt., Heineken Hungária Zrt., and the largest small-scale brewery participating in the data analysis, Pécsi Sörfözde Zrt.) in 2022 totalled 6.463 million hectolitres, 1.3% more than in 2021, but 3.4% lower than in 2019.
