World: Malting barley supply and demand balance estimate impossible at the moment - analysts

A world supply and demand balance for malting barley cannot be done. There will be good surpluses in Argentina and Australia from the end of 2021 onwards, the EU is outsold in crop 2021, the deficit of North America is large, but the exact quantity unclear, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in November.

China imported very little malting barley in 2021; Canadian and Argentinean FAQ barleys will serve as fairly good substitutes.

Canada had sold too much barley to China before its calamitous harvest; shippers fulfil their obligations, only partly from Canada, but the country must replace barley exports by feed imports, mainly by corn (3-4 mln tonnes) from the U.S.
