Brewing news USA, PA: WingCraft Brewing + Tavern launching next month in Camp Hill

A transformation is brewing at Arooga’s along Route 15 in Cumberland County, pennlive.com reported on March 17.

Next month, the restaurant at 1300 Camp Hill Bypass in East Pennsboro Township will transition to WingCraft Brewing + Tavern, a new concept developed by the Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar chain. WingCraft will brew small batches of beer and serve brewpub fare and upscale dishes.

“This concept has been a pet project of mine for a long time and brings me back to the days of Brew 22,” said Gary Huether, Jr., the chain’s president and co-founder.

The former Brew 22 American Tavern operated across from Arooga’s in West Hanover Township and specialized in craft beer with a pub menu. Huether is joined in the latest project by Phil Paetzold, a 25-year industry veteran and chef. He also worked at Brew 22, and most recently was managing partner at Bonefish Grill in Lower Allen Township.

Arooga’s interior was renovated to fit the new concept. Wall-to-wall televisions and sports memorabilia have been replaced with reclaimed wood walls, tavern lighting and a glass enclosed brew room.

Beers and cider including West Coast IPA, Blood Orange Wheat, American IPA, Espresso Vanilla Porter, Strawberry Rhubarb and Peach Mango Cider will be brewed on a four tank system. WingCraft’s beer also will be supplied to Arooga’s locations throughout central Pa.

Paetzold crafted the menu which combines steakhouse fare and traditional pub grub with weekly specials. Diners will find Certified Angus steaks, seafood, scratch made pasta and brick oven pizzas with house made mozzarella.

The restaurant also will host events such as beer and wine dinners, bourbon and cigars and beer tastings.

Huether and co-founder Mike Murphy opened the first Arooga’s in 2007. Today the chain operates franchises in New York, New Jersey, Florida and Massachusetts.
