EU: Barley crop forecast to slightly decrease in 2020/21
The EU Commissions barley supply & demand balance report of November 26 forecasts the EU-27 crop at 54.188 mln tonnes, slightly down from 55.024 mln tonnes in 2019/20, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts reported earlier in December
Imports are forecast at 1 mln tonnes vs. 1.893 mln tonnes last season.
Consumption is seen almost unchanged at 44.018 mln vs. 44.022 mln in 2019/20, with feed barley consumption slightly higher than last year (34.8 mln tonnes vs. 34.5 mln).
The EU-27 barley exports (incl. malt in grain equivalent) isnt expected to change either: 10.5 mln tonnes versus 10.501 mln tonnes in 2019/20.
Ending stocks are seen at 6.262 mln tonnes up from 5.592 mln tonnes last year.
