USA, TX: Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery closes after 14 years in business

After 14 years, Austin’s Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery has closed, Community Impact reported on January 13.

After regular service hours, the brewpub closed Jan. 12.

A statement from Black Star's board of directors on the business's website said Black Star closed in face of many "challenges."

"We understand this news will be disappointing, and we share in that disappointment," the statement said. "We want to thank each and every one of you for being part of this journey."

Black Star was the world's first community-owned brewpub and offered a rotating beer selection with over 55 unique recipes brewed seasonally.
