Russia & Ukraine: Ukraine barley exports in July 2019-May 2020 up, Russia’s down

Barley exports in 2019/20 by May 25 were: Russia 3.3 mln tonnes (last year 3.7 mln), Ukraine 4.7 mln tonnes (last year 3.5), H. M. Gauger GmbH reported in June.

Crop forecasts vary weekly, depending on weather conditons: Russia 17.5 to 19.0 mln tonnes (last year 20.6), Ukraine approximately 8.0 mln tonnes (last year 8.9).

Planting is finished in Ukraine, not quite complete yet in the Urals and Siberia.

As feed demand has increased in Russia, Black Sea offers will probably remain in line with other origins, for EU shippers a welcome change from former years.
