USA & Czech Republic: Rival helps Budvar reach record sales in USA

Budvar chief Jiří Boček convinced PM Topolánek that Budvar is benefitting from recent distribution deal with Anheuser-Busch, CTK reported May 22.

Working together with an age-old rival may pay off. It definitely did for Budějovický Budvar, which in January struck a distribution deal with its traditional competitor Anheuser-Busch (A-B).

Despite the ongoing trademark battles between the two breweries, A-B is now selling the rebranded Czechvar lager in the States, and the alliance has significantly boosted the Czech firm's US sales.
