EU & UK: Malt processing of barley crop 2025 should be normal, analysts say
The last remaining harvest is in the UK (Scotland) and while wet conditions are slowing progress, the timing is normal. Any variability in the crop, such as low protein, is considered manageable, RMI Analytics reported.
Also, malt processing of crop25 should be normal, the analysts said. In terms of total supply, the size of crop25 continues to expand, +1.3 mln tonnes to 62.5 mln tonnes. Yield gains in Germany, Sweden, and Denmark offset declines in Italy and Hungary. Barley exports have recovered slightly.
Malting barley prices remain under pressure, with the spreads between malting and feed continuing to narrow. UK values are down but holding up a bit more.
