Argentina: Barley export values sharply lower for malting barley
Argentina barley export values are sharply lower for malting barley and down to a lesser degree for feed barley, RMI Analytics reported earlier this month.
In the case of malting barley, demand for the old crop remains minimal, with only a single inquiry for slightly higher protein Andreia reported. Inquiries for feed barley (Middle East) have regularly been in the market, but at lower price indications than shown below.
Farmer selling interest at current price levels is extremely limited - in crop24 due to limited availability and in crop25, due to the price levels not of interest to farmers. This leaves traders with the choice to short the market to conclude business or to pass. At the moment there is little risk appetite from traders and little new business being facilitated.
Wet conditions have hindered the execution of exports for the final crop24 shipments. The first mid-term elections took place recently and the results were not good for the Milei government, adding uncertainty to Mileis current economic recovery plans.
