Brewing news World: Barley trade forecast slightly up in USDA’s March report

Global barley trade forecast for 2022/23 is slightly up this month, at 30.316 mln tonnes, vs. 29.916 mln in the February forecast, USDA said in its March report.

Export forecasts are increased for Australia (8 mln tonnes vs. 7.7 mln in the February report), Kazakhstan (1 mln vs. 750 thousand tonnes last month) and down for Russia (5.3. vs 5.5 mln).

Barley shipments in 2021/22 are forecast at 28.515 mln tonnes.

Production is expected to reach 151.642 mln tonnes (150.477 in the February report, 145.925 mln in 2021/22).

Global barley consumption is seen at 152.033 mln tonnes (150.733 mln in last month’s forecast, 148.372 mln in 2021/22) and ending stocks at 17.937 mln tonnes (18.092 and 18.346 mln tonnes, respectively).
