USA, NY: Water Street Brewing Co. closes its doors in Binghamton
Downtown Binghamton business Water Street Brewing Co. has closed its doors, PressConnects.com reported on February 5.
The brewery and restaurant was open for 12 years, according to a farewell message posted on the business' Facebook page in late January, in which the owners expressed gratitude for the experiences shared at events over the years, and hope for the future.
"Thanks to all who have supported us over these many years. It has been an exciting if tumultuous journey, and we could not have made it this far without the overwhelming support of our community," read the statement. "Though were saddened by the end of this chapter, we are happy to have the opportunity to have followed our creative passion and are looking forward to whats next."
The post did not explain the reason for the closure, but said "it is with heavy hearts that were announcing that we have brewed our last beer at Water Street."
During its run on Water Street, the business has featured a casual brewpub fare with handheld sandwiches and entrees, and over a dozen craft beers on tap.
Water Street Brewing Co.'s liquor license was suspended, then restored, in the spring of 2020 following accusations the downtown craft brewery violated rules aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Water Street continued serving patrons with an abbreviated menu through Feb. 3. The brewery's owners declined an email request for comment.
