Brewing news USA: New Hampshire leads US states in terms of per capita beer consumption

According to a study carried out by Euromonitor, in 2022, beer ranked fourth in the Top 10 most consumed beverages in the world, just below water, coffee, alcohol, and tea, as.com reported on May 29.

As for the global market, beer was valued at $768.55 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $996.49 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.3% during the forecast period, according to research by Vantage Market Research.

In the United States, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism revealed that beer is the most consumed alcoholic beverage in the entire country, but in what parts of the nation is it consumed most?

According to an analysis by Insider Monkey, based on data from alcoholic beverage sales to people over 14 years of age collected by the Alcohol Epidemiological Data System (AEDS), these are five states in which the greatest amount of beer is consumed per capita.

1. New Hampshire: Per capita beer consumption of 41.5 gallons
2. Montana: Per capita beer consumption of 37.1 gallons
3. Vermont: Per capita beer consumption of 35.3 gallons
4. North Dakota: Per capita beer consumption of 33.1 gallons
5. Pennsylvania: Per capita beer consumption of 29.7 gallons
6. Maine: Per capita beer consumption of 29.5 gallons
7. Nevada: Per capita beer consumption of 29.5 gallons
8. South Dakota: Per capita beer consumption of 29.1 gallons
9. Hawaii: Per capita beer consumption of 28 gallons
10. Louisiana: Per capita beer consumption of 27.5 gallons

On the other hand, an article in My Bartender uncovered that Budlight is the best-selling beer in the United States, followed by Coors Light, Michelob Ultra, Budweiser, and Miller Lite. Overall, younger generations are not drinking as much as those who are older, and total beer consumption has fallen in the US over the last decade.
