Denmark: New director at Carlsberg Research Centre
As of 15 August 2006, Esko Pajunen (60), currently Senior Vice President, Research & Development at Sinebrychoff in Finland, will take up a new position as Director, Applied Research at Carlsberg Research Centre in Copenhagen, the company released on May 09.
By 15 June 2007, Esko will be appointed Director of the Carlsberg Research Centre thereby succeeding Klaus Bock who will retire as Director of Research after 14 years at Carlsberg.
Esko Pajunen joined Sinebrychoff in 1979 as Research & Development Manager and was appointed Production Director in 1987. He was appointed to his present position in 1993.
Esko Pajunen has extensive experience with brewing and brewing related research. He has been actively involved in the construction of the Kerava Brewery and the Vena Brewery reconstruction project. He is Chairman and President of the Finnish Brewing and Malting Industry Research Laboratories, Supervisory Board member in Brewing Research International, and Vice President of the European Brewery Convention.
As Director for Applied Research at the Carlsberg Research Centre, Esko will initially be responsible for the management of the Carlsberg Research Laboratory and by June 2007 be responsible for the overall research activities at the Carlsberg Research Centre. Furthermore, he will be the technical contact with the Carlsberg Breweries Group Supply Chain.
The appointment of Esko for this position reflects the intention of strengthening the focus of the Research Centre towards more practical applications of research and development activities.
