USA, MA: Tree House Brewing Company eyeing new location in Boston
Boston may get a new craft brewery as Tree House Brewing Company eyes a space in the Prudential Center, according to city documents, Boston.com reported on November 12.
On November 13, associates of the acclaimed Massachusetts brewery will present a proposal to the Boston Licensing Board, the city department that approves liquor licenses.
Tree House wants to take over two floors and 35,000 square feet of the Pru, using the space for a brewing area, retail sales, a distilled spirits plant, a kitchen, and on-premise consumption.
The first floor of the space will mainly be used for the brewing area and a retail space, where customers can purchase Tree House beers to drink at home. A storefront for Tree House already exists at the Prudential Center, which opened back in September and even offers garage pick-up to guests.
But a tasting room space, where guests can drink on-site, has been proposed for the second floor. The application for a brewery and distillery pouring license said the space could seat 121 guests, and it also includes an outdoor patio.
The news of potentially more permanent digs comes after the success of a Tree House beer garden at the Pru that was open during the summer and eventually extended into September. The award-winning craft brewery has other locations in New England, including Charlton, Tewksbury, and Sandwich.
It isnt immediately clear what the timeline is for an opening, but Tree House appeared on the Licensing Boards voting agenda on Thursday, November 7.
