Barley news Australia: Barley crop forecast remains at 10.5 mln tonnes

Good rains continue to set up a very good moisture profile in eastern Australia. In some cases moisture is excessive (up to 150 mm) at a time when seeding is trying to advance, and with more rain forecast, RMI Analytics said in their early May report.

The analysts’ forecast of Australia’s barley production remains at 10.5 mln tonnes and with ending stocks dropping from the highs created by the past two big barley crops.

Prices in crop 2022 are higher across malting and feed barley in all port zones. Despite these increases Australia remains the most competitive barley origin. The vessel lineup to load wheat and canola remain at high levels and facing ongoing challenges with wet conditions slowing load-outs.
