Zambia: Zambian Breweries Plc announced fiscal results for the year ended March 31

SABMiller’s Zambian subsidiary announced June 02 its audited consolidated results for the year ended 31 March 2006 (figures are stated in Zambian Kwacha Millions).

According to the reports, the company recorded a strong performance during the period with profit before tax increasing by 31.33%. The landed costs of imported raw materials reduced in the second half of the year by virtue of the stronger Kwacha which, together with improved production efficiencies and tight cost control, were the main contributors to the year’s excellent performance. The company reported a Net Turnover of K352 916Million (+7.56%). The Profit After Taxation raised by 39.26% to K40.690 Million.

There was no change in the number of shares in issue during the year and earnings per share grew by 39.26% to K111.78. There were no exceptional movements affecting reserves.

At the Board meeting held on 11 May 2006, the Board of Directors proposed a final dividend of K47.25 per share, bringing the total dividend to K78.25 per share for the year ending 31 March 2006. In accordance with the requirements of Rule 12 of the (Registration of Securities) Rules, 1993, and the listing rules of the Lusaka Stock Exchange notice is hereby given that the dividend shall be payable to shareholders registered in the company’s books as at 30 June 2006. The dividend shall be paid on or around 21 July 2006.
