Barley news Canada: Barley exports see a slight slowdown

StatsCanada has reported a surprising and significant rise in barley production, to 9.7 mln tonnes, +0.7 mln tonnes. Barley exports have experienced a slight slowdown following a strong start to the crop year. Vancouver terminal capacity is constrained due to the typical postharvest shipping surge of all grains, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

Canadian malting barley are softer, but little demand in the market except for Japan buying regularly. The feed barley market is holding up rather well, from a combination of stronger domestic prices, and the underlying support from the global feed barley market where inquiries are regularly present in the market.
