EU: Early barley crop 2026 picture remains good, forecast for 2025 boosted by 0.2 mln tonnes

For European winter crops the news continues to be positive, as milder than normal temperatures prevail, along with sufficient moisture. While the early crop’26 picture remains good, RMI Analytics’ crop’25 is boosted slightly higher (+0.2 mln) to 62.8 mln tonnes due to a small adjustment in Germany and the Czech Republic.

Barley exports continue on an extremely good pace, the analysts said in their latest report, adding that malting barley values have dropped sharply in a quiet market as people start transitioning to the holidays. Reduced demand in Germany is one factor in the drop.
