Brewing news USA, FL: Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery permanently closes its doors

After a six-year run, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery has permanently closed its doors, Daytona Beach News-Journal reported on August 26.

Upon visiting the brewpub this week, patrons were met with a sign taped to the eatery’s front door that reads, “Unfortunately we have permanently closed. Thank you for allowing us to serve the Daytona Beach community.”

The Colorado-based national chain of more than 30 years opened its Daytona Beach location, anchored at 1864 Victory Circle, in January 2018, serving as its sole Florida restaurant. It was one of many establishments to join the touristic dining and entertainment hub known as One Daytona, housed directly across the street from the International Speedway, alongside Stoked Poke, which opened in 2021, 4 River's Smokehouse and BurgerTen.

The "upscale brewpub" featured an on-site craft beer brewery and served a variety of "premium comfort foods," from stacked burgers to crispy fried chicken and steaks. It holds a 3.8-star rating on Google with more than 1,000 reviews.

While no formal statement regarding the Daytona Beach closure was released on the restaurant’s social media pages, news quickly spread online through various popular Facebook foodie groups.

Posts announcing the news seemed to draw a divided response among commenters, with some lamenting the loss and others admitting the writing had been on the wall.

“Saw this coming a year ago,” one user wrote, while another noted, “The recent closures of many (both chain and privately owned) restaurants is not good for our area. Unfortunately, perceived lack of interest by consumers, and low sales will result in restaurants and stores not wanting to open here.”

Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is now listed as permanently closed on Google, though the Daytona Beach location remains on the brand's website. The News-Journal attempted to reach out to both the restaurant and a former employee via social media and did not receive a response before the publishing. This story will be updated as further information becomes available.
