Malting news Ukraine: Malt exports up 16% yoy

Ukraine’s malt exports totalled 123.9 thousand tonnes over the 11 months of the current season (July-May 2017/18), which is 16% up from the same period last season, APK-Inform reported on June 8.

Industry sources also pointed out that the amount shipped abroad over the reporting period is an absolute 11-month record of all times.

Shipments increased owing to the fact that the nation started supplying its malt to Brazil, which has already imported 10.5 thousand tonnes of Ukrainian malt this season thus becoming the third-largest importer of the product.

Other countries that significantly increased their import of Ukrainian malt are Turkey and Burkina Faso (+7.6 thousand and + 5.5 thousand tonnes, respectively). At the same time, Angola, which was the leader last summer, has reduced its import of Ukrainian malt by 8.2 thousand tonnes to 25.1 thousand, it is reported.

Ukrainian malt is being shipped to 37 countries worldwide this season, sources report.
