Barley news World: Barley trade, production forecasts up in USDA’s September report

Global barley trade is forecast to reach 29.513 mln tonnes in 2025/26, up from 28.889 mln tonnes forecast in USDA’s August report and still short of 29.916 mln tonnes forecast for 2024/25.

Export forecast is up for Australia (8 mln tonnes vs. 6.9 mln tonnes in the August report) and Kazakhstan (1.7 vs. 1.5 mln tonnes) and down for Russia and Ukraine.

China is expected to import 10 mln tonnes of barley in 2025/26 (vs. 9.5 mln tonnes forecast in August).

Global barley crop is seen at 147.311 mln tonnes (144.331 mln tonnes forecast last month, 143.330 mln tonnes forecast for 2024/25).

World barley consumption could total 147.055 mln tonnes (144.976 and 146.25 mln tonnes) and ending stocks 19.16 mln tonnes (17.947 and 18.904, respectively).
