Brewing news USA, IA: Clock House Brewing to take over Iowa Brewing Companys operations in Cedar Rapids

Clock House Brewing will take over operations of Iowa Brewing Company’s Third Street taproom, continuing production of its brands while introducing new offerings and events, Corridor Business Journal reported on August 12.

The Cedar Rapids-based brewery announced the transition on its Facebook page in late July, noting it will maintain Iowa Brewing’s core beers, including Surf Zombies and Iowa Eagle, while producing new releases under both names.

The Iowa Brewing taproom will be renamed Clock House – 3rd Street.

Iowa Brewing Company, founded in 2016, played a significant role in the city’s craft beer sector. The brewery’s Eagle Amber, brewed by longtime head brewer Mike Wing, earned a silver medal at the World Beer Cup. Clock House Brewing acknowledged the founders’ contributions and congratulated them on their retirement.

“Since opening in 2016, Iowa Brewing has played a key role in shaping Cedar Rapids’ craft beer scene,” Clock House Brewing said in its announcement. “We are honored to continue what they started.”

The location at 708 Third St. SE will be renovated over the coming months. Plans include updating the outdoor patio, installing a small kitchen, and creating a space intended to host live music, cycling groups, and community gatherings.

Clock House Brewing said it will continue Iowa Brewing’s longstanding events, including the Annual Thanksgiving Day Cousin Eddie party and the Blessing of the Bock celebration.

The company also plans to use the expanded production capacity to distribute its flagship hazy IPA, Witch Slap, statewide. Seasonal and specialty beers will also be part of the expanded distribution program.

The taproom will temporarily close during the renovation period for cleaning, reorganization, and equipment updates. A reopening date has not been set.

“We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming guests back to the 3rd Street taproom,” the statement said.
