USA, CO: TRVE Brewing Co closing after nearly 14 years in business

Denver-based heavy metal brewery TRVE Brewing Co is closing after nearly 14 years in the business. db reports.

The closure, which came as a shock to both beer and music fans who have known and supported the business since it launched, was revealed this week and stated that it was “the right time”.

Speaking about the decision, TRVE founder Nick Nunns said: “It hasn’t been an easy choice, but this brewery has run its course and for a huge number of reasons it’s the right time to send this thing off into the lake trailed by a fiery arrow.”

Nunns explained how he opened TRVE back in 2011 with the intention of making some good beer and listening to music he liked.

The brewery, located at 227 Broadway, has historically been a haven for heavy metal lovers as well as anyone who has an interest in beer too. The Denver beer scene has been shaken up over the past few years with the trend for alcohol-free drinks the area leading to a swathe of zero-alcohol beers becoming the norm.

The TRVE portfolio of beers, which were created by TRVE co-owner and head brewer Zach Coleman, had grown in popularity with beer fans alongside this trend and had expanded to Ashville, North Carolina. However, despite the fact that the beers have always been well-received, last year, the writing was on the wall for the business facing challenges when TRVE revealed it had closed its production facility and moved operations to New Image Brewing in Wheat Ridge. Now, with the core business folding, the new location in Ashville will also close alongside the flagship brewery.

Speaking on social media, Nunns told Coleman: “I am so sad that we are having to do this when the beer coming out of Asheville is some of the best you’ve made in your career. I hope your continued quest for perfection in your art never ends.”

Nunns has admitted that, meanwhile, TRVE is still looking into whether TRVE’s beer distribution will finish completely alongside as the brewery’s taprooms cease operations.

TRVE has plans to host its official last day on 12 July as a way for fans of the brewery to have a chance to say goodbye and enjoy a beer together.
