EU: Barley crop forecast rebounds on higher expectations for Spain and Romania
Dry conditions across northern Europe are persisting, while Spain and central Europe received good rains. Further rain is forecast across Europe, but the rain forecast for dry areas most in need of moisture is varied over the next week, RMI Analytics reported this week.
Higher production in Spain and Romania contribute to higher barley crop25 forecast at 58.2 mln tonnes, an increase of 0.4 mln tonnes.
Prices have bounced higher, on concerns dryness in northern Europe is reducing yield and quality prospects for malting barley. Black Sea harvest is nearing and in advance, feed prices are tightly aligned.
