USA, TX: Thirsty Planet Brewery getting ready to open in downtown San Marcos

Thirsty Planet Brewery will open in the former Aqua Brew spot in downtown San Marcos, Community Impact reported on April 28.

Founded by Brian Smittle in 2010, the brewery was previously located on South Congress Avenue in Austin. That location closed shortly after it opened in 2023. Since then, Thirsty Planet has been brewing some of its beers at Austin Beerworks and offering them in local bars and grocery stores.

Thirsty Planet’s beers include Thirsty Goat Amber, Buckethead IPA, Yellow Armadillo Wheat and Fat Bat Hazy IPA. The new location will be the brewery’s production facility and tasting room.

The space will also feature an outdoor beer garden, kid- and pet-friendly areas, TVs and speakers. They are also looking to partner with local restaurants for food options.
