The Czech Republic: Saaz hop-growing landscape granted UNESCO World Heritage status

The Northwest Bohemian town of �atec and its surrounding hop-growing landscape have been granted UNESCO World Heritage status. The announcement on Monday, September 18 means that Czechia now has 17 entries on the prestigious list, Radio Prague reported.

�atec, known in German as Saaz, is internationally famous for growing high-quality Saaz hops. It has seven centuries of tradition in the field and is responsible for a large part of Czechia�s total hop production.

World Heritage Sites are selected by UNESCO for having cultural, historical, scientific or other forms of significance.
