Argentina: Winter grain crops endangered by severe drought but barley somewhat better off than wheat
Severe drought endangers the winter grain crops in Argentina. Barley, grown in the south of the Buenos Aires province, is somewhat better off than wheat, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their latest report.
The countrys financial situation is in a mess; in view of inflation and an artificially high peso/dollar rate farmers abstain from markets.
The crop expectation is still around 5.5 mln tonnes, but may have to be reduced. Export business was at a standstill as of the beginning of August.
