EU: EU barely crop forecast at 52.184 mln tonnes in 2022/23
The EU Commissions end of June barley supply and demand estimate forecasts the EU-27 barley crop in 2022/23 at 52.184 mln tonnes versus 51.973 mln in 2021/22 and 53.957 mln in 2020/21, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their July report.
Imports are seen unchanged from last season, at 1 mln tonnes, but lower than 1.249 mln tonnes in 2020/21.
The EU-27 barley consumption is forecast at 42.508 mln tonnes versus 43.505 mln in 2021/22 and 44.417 mln the year before.
Exports including malt in grain equivalent are seen at 9.759 mln tonnes (9.9 mln in 2021/22, 10.646 mln in 2020/21), whereas ending stocks are forecast at 5.019 mln tonnes versus 4.102 and 4.526 mln tonnes, respectively.
