World: Comfortable barley supply base unlikely to be built during 2022 - analysts
As the market continues to absorb the news from Ukraine, the degree of uncertainty on the global barley markets remains elevated, RMI Analytics said in their April report.
The USDA has again reduced its global barley production forecast and RMI Analytics crop 2022 world production forecast at 147.2 mln tonnes is mostly unchanged from 2021. This makes it unlikely that a more comfortable barley supply base will be built during 2022, and the best case scenario is attaining an average malting barley crop to partly fix the supply environment.
The barley market is expected to remain extremely sensitive to any supply risk or surge in demand during the next three months until final crops are confirmed. The trade remains on edge and prices stay firm.
