EU: Barley production estimated to have dropped to 54.422 mln tonnes this season
The EU Commission Barley Supply and Demand Balance of January 26 estimates the EU-27 barley production at 54.422 mln tonnes vs. 55.024 mln in 2019/20.
Imports forecast is down to 1 mln tonnes from 1.893 mln last season.
2020/21 barley consumption by the 27 EU nations is seen at 44.32 mln tonnes versus 44.022 mln in 2019/20.
The EU Commission forecasts exports (including malt) at 10.5 mln tonnes almost unchanged from last seasons 10.501 mln.
Ending stocks of barley are seen at 4.951 mln tonnes down from 5.592 mln in 2019/20.
