China: Carlsberg thinking of increasing stake in Chongqing Brewery Co.
Danish brewing giant Carlsberg wants to increase its 17.5 percent holding in Chinese Chongqing Brewery Co. to eventually take over control of the brewer, spokesman Jens Peter Skarrup was quoted as saying by Bloomberg on October, 9.
We want majority ownership or a clear path to control in all countries where we operate, Mr. Skarrup said.
If its possible, and if we have the money, we want control of Chongqing, he added.
Carlsberg used this strategy years ago with Russian Baltika Brewery it finally completely took over in 2008.
