Australia: ABB executive wins national management award

ABB Grain�s company secretary and legal counsel, Ashley Roff, has won Chartered Secretaries Australia�s �Corporate Governance Professional of the Year� award, according to ABB press release, February 22.

Mr Roff said he was thrilled to receive the national award � judged on a company outside of the ASX-100 � which was presented at a gala function in Sydney this week.

�I am fortunate that I work in a progressive company with a board which appreciates the need to look after the three Rs: risk, return and reputation,� he said.

�A pleasing aspect of receiving this award is that it demonstrates the ability of South Australian companies to lead corporate change in Australia; I hope it inspires other South Australians to strive for best practice.�

Finalists in the awards were judged by a panel headed by BHP Billiton chairman, Don Argus. The panel was impressed by Mr Roff�s work in developing a solid governance framework, after the 2004 merger of ABB Grain and AusBulk Ltd.
