Barley news EU: The harvest season is still in progress, poor barley quality reported

The harvest season has not ended yet. Rains and storms in August halted combining in the North of France, in England and Scotland, Denmark and Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Baltic States and Finland. Estimates are that 15 - 20 % of spring barley are still in the fields in these areas, analysts found out September 01.

Apart from Northern England, Scotland and Finland all barley still standing or rather lying in the fields is unusable for malting, discolored, sprouted and containing fusarium. In some regions farmers will plow under instead of harvest their barley fields.
