The UB Group accounts for 50 % of the beer sales in India and it registered a 22-percent increase in sales between Jun 2005 and Aug 2005, according to India Business Insight Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge. It sold more than 25 million cases during the period (21 million cases between Jun 2004 and Aug 2004). Beer manufactures feel that beer is not a seasonal drink anymore and major companies are focusing on brand-building exercises.

The beer industry registered a growth of about 10 percent during 2005 owing to the stabilisation of beer prices.
