Barley news Canada: Barley crop forecast remains at 8.2 mln tonnes

With the help of clear weather, barley harvest has advanced in Canada, led by Alberta and Saskatchewan harvests over 75% complete. There is slightly more crop variability in Saskatchewan versus Alberta. The nation’s barley crop forecast remains at 8.2 mln tonnes, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

The US harvest is finished, leaving North American barley supply in a very stable supply situation.

The advance of harvest is weighing on barley prices and keep Canada competitive in export markets. Domestic feed barley, prices continue to move sharply lower, and are now well below US imported corn prices, which are firmer despite the prospects for a record US corn crop result.
