Canada: Export barley prices unchanged despite improved crop conditions
There is no change in export price levels for Canadian barley, despite the improved crop conditions, as liquidity is limited by a lack of selling by farmers who appear content to await harvest, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
Export volumes are flowing to China, (126 thousand tonnes in May 2025) but Australia continues to dominate Chinese supply.
With the improvement in crop conditions, Canadas domestic feed barley values are starting to drop for both crop24 and crop25. Cattle feeders appear to be well covered, and with improved crop conditions, have the ability to await harvest. This leaves a bearish tone on feed barley which may eventually transfer across to impact malting barley values as well, the analysts said.
