Brewing news USA, CO: Resolute Brewing Company changing ownership

Resolute Brewing Company, a brewery with locations in Centennial and Arvada, is changing ownership, PorchDrinking.com reported on March 11.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey as the new owners of Resolute Brewing Company,” said Jacob Wells, a new owner of Resolute. “Resolute has established itself as a cornerstone of the community, and we are committed to upholding its values while infusing fresh energy and creativity into the brewery and taprooms. We’ve been big fans of Resolute for a long time and can’t wait to get started.”

For its new beginning, Resolute will host a New Owner Celebration on Thursday, March 28th. The party will be all day at both the Centennial and Arvada locations. As part of the festivities, patrons can get a free beer, meet the new owners, and listen to live music.

“We invite our loyal customers and craft beer enthusiasts alike to join us on this exciting journey,” added Brad Crilley. “Whether you’re a long-time supporter, or new to the Resolute family, we look forward to welcoming you to our brewery and sharing our passion for great beer.”

Now, the new ownership group consists of Brad Crilley, Pyper Lund, and Jacob Wells. The team comes from a variety of hospitality backgrounds. Wells and Crilley come from Columbine High School where the previous ownership also attended. “The brewing industry is new for us (though they’ve taken plenty of our money over the years),” Wells shares. “It’s been a dream of ours to get into the business for a long time, and it’s been a more realistic goal the last couple of years, despite the challenges the industry has been facing.”

First, the new ownership team is eager to maintain its production of high-quality beer. They will do this by retaining its master brewer, Kyle Larkin. In 2022, Resolute won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) for its German-Style Dopplebock, Execrator Doppelbock. Last year, Resolute surpassed it with a GABF Gold Medal for Execrator. Following, the same beer won a silver medal in the 2023 World Beer Cup. Besides Execrator, Resolute won a gold medal the same year for its smoked beer, Unearthing the Orb, also at the World Beer Cup in 2023. Additionally, PorchDrinking has previously highlighted its American IPA, Ode to San Diego.

Also, Resolute plans to expand its beer lineup with more new and innovative beers. “We have a good amount of capacity now that Resolute has exited the distribution game,” Wells shares. “We have plans to use that extra capacity to brew more small batches for seasonal brews, as well as giving our head brewer more capacity to experiment and compete in festivals. He won gold at the World Beer Cup and GABF last year, and we want him to have everything he needs to bring home more hardware.”

Next, the new ownership group plans to make three other changes as they take over. First, the group plans to renovate both Resolute Brewing locations. “We’re doing a cosmetic facelift with new paint and murals in Centennial, to be completed in the next couple weeks,” Wells says. “We have some bigger carpentry taproom projects that we’re hoping to have done before summertime. ”

Second, the ownership hopes to be more involved with the community by adding more events and hosting fundraisers. Finally, sustainability is a final focus of initial changes as Resolute hopes to use more locally sourced ingredients and reduce packaging.

“We don’t expect any major staff change,” Wells notes. “Currently we’re producing around 1,000 barrels per year for the taprooms on a 15-barrel system.”
