Panama: Beer production registers significant increase in 2023
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, the production and consumption of beer, rum and vodka were the liquors that registered the greatest increase, while gin, cognac and whiskey decreased in Panama, FreshlyBottled.com reported on February 25.
According to preliminary data from the Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), in 2023, the production of alcoholic beverages increased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous year. That is, in said period, 280 million litres of alcoholic beverages were produced, while in the same period of 2022 there were 274 million.
Among the types of beverages that increased their production in 2023 was beer with 263 million litres, while in 2022 there were 255 million. Rum production was 11 million litres in 2023 and 10.5 million in 2022, Vodka was 285,000 litres in 2023 and 135,000 in 2022. However, cognac production fell from 42,500 litres in 2022 to 41,000 litres in 2023. Thus, gin produced 2 million litres in 2023 and in 2022 it was 2.1 million litres. Wine production recorded a decrease in production from 110,000 litres in 2022 to 82,000 litres in 2023, the same trend for Whiskey that went from 23,000 litres in 2022 to 21,000 litres in 2022.
