USA: Beer shipments drop 4.4% in January 2023
U.S. brewers shipped more than 11.1 million barrels of product in January 2023, a decline of -4.4% year-over-year (YoY), according to the Beer Institute (BI), citing domestic tax paid shipment estimates from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).
January 2023s estimated decline totaled 506,663 barrels. The losses are on the heels of January 2022 when shipments declined -11.8% (-1.55 million barrels), to 11.6 million barrels. That amounts to more than 2 million fewer barrels shipped since January 2021 when U.S. brewers shipped 13.15 million barrels of product.
