World: Barley prices remain in a downward trend

Global barley prices remain in a downward trend, but the overall impact is being tempered by the strengthening of EUR versus the USD, RMI Analytics said in their late January report.

In Europe, prices are down while Australia is the exception with a post-harvest rebound.

However, this is not translating to the same weakness in USD terms. The current Chinese New Year celebration is contributing to a quieter market. There could be a strong re-entry following CNY as indications of open demand persist in the market, the analysts said.
