Denmark: Royal Unibrew announces acquisition of Danish microbrewery N�rrebro Bryghus

Drinks firm Royal Unibrew has expanded its craft beer portfolio with the acquisition of microbrewery N�rrebro Bryghus, the European Supermarket Magazine reported on January 5.

Founded in 2003 in N�rrebro, N�rrebro Bryghus is produced in Hedehusene, Denmark, at Baldersbr�nde Bryggeri. Its beers are predominantly sold in N�rrebro, but the company said that the transaction will make it available to a wider audience.

"We have found a new owner who we believe can continue the N�rrebro Bryghus brand and the business we have built up over two decades," commented Martin Thomsen, managing director and co-owner of N�rrebro Bryghus. "We are proud of the chapter we have written."

The purchase price of the acquisition has not been revealed.

In a statement on its LinkedIn page, Royal Unibrew said that 'it is with great pleasure that today we can present our new member of the Royal Unibrew family: N�rrebro Bryghus'.

Commenting on the deal, director Kasper Ryttersgaard Jacobsen said, "Royal Unibrew has been given the opportunity to acquire and continue a strong, locally-anchored brand with a significant starting point in Copenhagen. It is a beacon in the Danish beer culture that we are taking over, and of course we are both proud and humble about that."

He added that the brewer has a "special place in the heart" of many Copenhagen consumers, and that the company will be looking to build on that relationship.
