World: Barley trade, production forecasts reduced in USDA’s April report

Global barley trade 2021/22 is forecast to total 34.531 mln tonnes in USDA’s April report, down from 34.683 mln in their March forecast and versus 36.698 mln tonnes forecast for 2020/21.

Barley production is forecast to total 145.104 mln tonnes (vs. 146.143 mln tonnes in the March report and 160.107 mln tonnes forecast for 2020/21.

Total consumption is forecast at 149.208 mln tonnes (150.24 mln in the March forecast and 161.347 mln in 2020/21).

Ending stocks are seen at 16.801 mln tonnes vs. 16.853 and 20.905 mln, respectively.
